We spent two days at the Kinabatangan Jungle Camp and did two afternoon, one early morning and one night cruise on the Kinabatangan River, which is famous for its wildlife, in those days. We saw Pygmy Elephants already on our first afternoon cruise but encountered this Elephant Family on the second afternoon cruise. They weren’t shy but very curious and we got the chance to get real close. The Elephant baby was first hidden by the two adult Elephants but then he pushed himself in front. When he suddenly lifted his trunk, it seemed as if he wanted to say hi to us.

While we are commemorating Carnival in this country, people in Asia are celebrating Chinese New Year on today’s 10th February. This marks the “most important chinese public holiday”, which is acclaimed especially in east asian countries like China, Mongolia, Taiwan and Vietnam. But also in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, in the Philippines and by the chinese population worldwide the festival is been celebrated. Read more
Nine days from now I am off on a new adventure. I’ll be heading to Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Java and Bali for six weeks.
I have been to Dubai four times already on my way to or from Asia, but all I know so far is the direct transit area of the International Airport. So I decided, it’s time to finally see the city and a bit more of the United Arab Emirates. Four and half years ago my boyfriend and I spent two days and one night in Abu Dhabi on our way to Thailand.
